*Oh, I almost forgot!!Colin’s new book, “Colin Cowie, Wedding Chic…”will be out at the end of this year:)!!
I confess, I am not a sushi fan at all, BUT…sweet, sticky, delicous and cool looking sushi like this I would pick up a pair of sticks for!!
This fabulous confection is made by the incredibly talented Beryl Ann Byrd of Just Fabulous Pastries in San Diego. As part of her “Very Special Treats” collection, the sushi is created from…Colorful soy wrappers surround a filling of sweet sticky rice flavored with coconut milk, ginger, and vanilla. Tiny jewels of glazed strawberry, mango, and kiwi sprinkled with black and white sesame seeds. Serve with lime “wasabi”, blood orange broth and finish off with a crispy edible chopstick.” $3.00 per piece *From the JustFab.com website.
Just Fabulous(how can you not love this place already with a name like that?) creates pure masterpieces from the divinely elegant to the deliciously chic to downright jaw dropping (check out her Faberge Egg Cakes which are edible versions of the real thing…amazing).
You have got to check this website out and if you live in San Diego, you must go have some sweet sushi for me please!
I am off to the elegant and luxurious Ritz Carlton, Lake Las Vegas Resort from February 22-24 to participate in the National Association of Catering Executives (NACE) Regional Leadership Summit so that I continue to learn how to contribute to my wonderful Las Vegas NACE chapter and the national organization. “NACE” has been a very big part of my success both personally and professionally. I am excited to learn a lot and see old friends and make new ones.
My “hero” style guru, Colin Cowie will be a keynote speaker and I’m so excited to see him speak again in person! There will be lots of interesting and inspiring seminars I’ll be attending to learn about new food and beverage and presentation trends, wedding decor, cultural weddings an food and how to better collaborate with all the dedicated and talented catering managers so I can do what I do best, even better. And that’s better for my brides and grooms as they ultimately get the benefit!
I’m hoping I’ll have a chance to post during this whirlwind of a week with some cool things I have learned and seen, but I’m sure I’ll have all kinds of great wedding advice and weddding style ideas to share (probably weeks worth) after the show.
Stay Tuned, have a fabulous and Stylish weekend (and week ahead)!
One of my favorite wedding inspiration blogs that I check on daily is Style Me Pretty.com, written and designed by Abby Larson.
Abby definately has specific and distinctive taste and the weddings and details she features on her blog are creative, stylish and of course inspirational to brides (and their Wedding Consultants), who are looking for great ideas to bring their “Wedding Style” vision to life.
Style Me Pretty is one of THE MOST popular wedding blog sites amongst “Style Obsessed Brides” in the country and has many celebrity fans including Ms. Martha herself!!
So, I was totally honored when “Style Me Pretty” invited me to head up their “short list” of “Event Planners” for their newly launched Las Vegas “Little Black Book”of Very Important Vendors directory upon the reccomendation of my friend and now fellow Las Vegas “L.B.B.” photographer pick, Ashley Bartoletti Photography (Thanks once again Ashley!)
The short list has a pretty high stanard of criteria and each category has only 3 wedding professionals who are pre-screened for references, quality and the “Style Me Pretty” aesthetic; so that is some exclusivity (I’m the only one in my category).
I hope you will all stop by to check out their fabulous blog, check me out too in the “Little Black Book” and stay a while to get some great creative ideas.
I love when my fellow Wedding Professionals “get it” as to what a professional Wedding Consultant can do to help not only our mutual clients (The Bride and Groom), but also those professionals themselves have an easy, smooth and hassle free event so they can be free to do whatever it is they do best; create a beautiful room, put the finishing touches on an incredible “work of art” of a cake or expertly document the entire day with images (still or moving) to last a lifetime.
As a Wedding Consultant, having great relationships with my wonderful photographers and videographers is so important as I rely greatly on their images as the sole document of any of the small influence I had in collaborating on a beautiful, well run and memorable event. In turn, my images help them too by crediting their incredible artistic work on my website and blog as it is their images that bring it to life.
I am so pleased that one of my favorite Las Vegas photographers, Ashley Bartoletti, thinks so highly of the role of a Wedding Consultant and of my work to ask me to share some advice on her blog on The Importance of a Wedding Consultant!
Ashley and I had the pleasure to work on the beautifulWynn Las Vegas Wedding of two of my favorite people, Bill and Kaylynn last September.
Thank you so much Ashley and it was a pleasure and honor to share this advice with your blog readers! *And thanks for sharing my blog contest too:)
I didn’t make it on time for a Valentine Giveaway, but I still want to give a lucky “Diary” reader a very special gift this February for my “Stylish Gift of the Month” Giveaway.
Coline Cowie is one of my favorite celebrity wedding and event planners! Of course I love his gorgeous work and his fabulous style but the reason I admire and respectColin Cowie is that he truly cares about the real meaning behind the wedding day and what it holds personally for each couple. He also understands the word “style” is not exclusive to the rich (anyone with imagination who puts love and heart into planning their wedding can create a beautiful and stylish affair), and that being a gracious bride and groom and making your guests welcome, comfortable and appreciated at your celebration is as memorable (or sometimes more so) than all the fancy decor and that will always be the very best way to be “in style”!
So because I love Colin and I love you for visiting and reading my blog, I am giving away a “Colin Cowie Book Collection Valentine” that will include the following…
Colin’s gorgeous coffee table wedding book, “Extraordinary Weddings” which is bound in a stunning pink (I think Colin calls it “vermillion”) just reminds me of Valentines’ Day. The images are absolutely stunning and the weddings, from rendering to finished events are truly inspiring!
Colin’s new lifestyle book, “Colin Cowie Chic: The Guide to Life as it Should Be”.
“For the Bride” by Colin Cowie *A must have for the Gracious Bride
“For the Groom” by Colin Cowie *A must have for the gentleman in every groom.
You can read more about all these wonderful Wedding Planning & Lifestyle books by clicking on them in the gallery in this post or by visiting my Book Cafe!
To enter the contest, please respond to this post by no later than 11:59PM, Pacific time on February 29, 2008 by leaving a comment with your name and city. For extra “bonus points” (I’ll enter you twice), tell me one thing you like to do for your sweetie to make every day feel like Valentines’ Day (and remember my 15 year old niece sometimes reads my blog!).
I will announce the winner on March 1, 2008 and the lucky winner will receive all 4 books delivered right to their home.
So naturally, what else would they do to spread that lovin’ feelin but give all those brides and grooms to be a spin at the big wheel of love to see what kind of wedding they could have from a traditional “White Wedding” to “Indulgent” to “Rock N’ Roll Fantasy Wedding”.
People could go to the website to see their friends and family tie the knot and watch all the happenings on live streaming video and you can still see all the fun online with videos (including an interview with a Rabbi, a Priest and an Elvis…I hear a punch line coming!) and photos. The website is pretty cute actually with some very funny Wedding Planning FAQ’s.
Yes, I know I always espouse the stylish weddings that Las Vegas can offer, but every once in a while, a story so deliciously funny and really, romantic at heart as this is just too wonderful not to revel in and enjoy remembering why we truly are “The Wedding Capital of the World”.
HAPPY “DAY AFTER” VALENTINE’S DAY FROM LAS VEGAS!!
Well, due to still feeling a wee bit under the weather, I totally spaced on getting a Valentine wishes post up on the 14th:(
I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and shared it with your sweetie and all those people you love and who love you back (like Mom & Dad, your sister or brother, friends, etc.).
My day suddenly got a little brighter when a certain wonderful husband flashed something sparkly and glinty in my eye when he got home tonight and slipped it on my right ring finger:) What a guy!!
And of course, “My Love Don’t Cost a Thing” as JLo would say (wonder if she got her Valentine’s day present yesterday?), but it sure was sweet!
My wish and hope for all of you is for you and your sweetie to feel like every day is Valentines’ Day.
